Bush Boys Fishin' on the Gulf Coast

Yeah, it's baseless, unsupported, clearly bogus. And let's face it, these days, it doesn't take much more talent than the typical bored 8 year-old has to put together a picture like this. But darn it, it's funny! I watched the speech tonight and was mildly impressed though it did strike me as a little disingenuous that we've now pledged so much to fix what may have been prevented had the Corps of Engineers' budget not been pillaged to pay for that big 'ol tax cut.

To be fair though, Katrina was huge and we all thought we'd dodged the worst of it when it spun past New Orleans. I can't fault the president for his response. What could he have done? (I'm being serious although I know most of my friends won't believe it)

At least he still opposes abortion and we still got our guns! That'll shelter the homeless, bail the floodwaters, rebuild the cities, balance the budget, sew things up in Iraq and make us great again.

Luth,
Out.

Expatriation is definitely NOT my cup of tea, but thanks for the invite. Ya know, if you're gonna leave links to commercial sites, at least have the courage, or courtesy to do so with a name or some contact info. I'm so tempted to simply delete any comment with a link to commercial site that's posted anonymously that it is only my liberal leaning and opposition to censorship that prevents me from doing so. Ah screw it... it's coming down... as much as I love Canada!

I can't let the administration off so easily. The scenarios for a post-hurricane flood in NOLA had been played out time and time again, in conferences, in newspaper articles, and most impressively on the Friday before the storm hit during a teleconference held by FEMA. The hurricane guy said he made sure it was a teleconference so he could see the folks' faces. ...in all of these, the danger zone was 24-72 hours after the storm surge hits, because it takes awhile for ol' Ponchartrain to bust the levies.

So I don't buy the argument that the administration was listening to the media - who they constantly disparage as untrustworthy anyway - for the "all clear" data to come in. Come on.

I guess I don't buy any argument from this admin anymore... I just don't think, no matter how much someone tells you ahead of time, that anyone could have been prepared for this. I'm not saying that's an acceptable excuse for a president, I'm just saying I probably would have assume the warnings were being exaggerated too - then again, that's why I'm not president. Yeah. So there.

That is one of MANY reasons you are not President! Damn, why do you hate this country?
Yes, it's me; John.
Isn't the responsibility placed squarely on the shoulders of the administration - not just this week - but months and years ago when people were appointed to leadership positions? I mean damn, the top three folks at FEMA have literally NO EXPERIENCE in emergency management. You, at least, know how to drive a bulldozer and heat up an MRE. The President of the Labor Union the represents the workers at FEMA sent a letter to the members of congress last year screaming about the leaderships' lack of experience. I know political cronyism is everywhere, hell I hope to be the recipient of some of it someday. But FEMA? C'mon. Appoint your college roomie to head up the Agriculture department or to be the acting assistant to the undersecretary of the vice presidents office of executive leadership - the job I'm hoping to land. But maybe the party that so vehemently hates our federal government should spend less time trying to shrink, starve, control spending or otherwise drive it into the ground and more time learning how to manage it.
Peace brother,
Jag

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but conservatives DON'T like change and liberals DO like change. Is this correct? A few weeks (possibly months, years) ago, (not exactly sure of the facts because history class was soooo long ago)there was a group of people that was sick of the rule of the land at that time. I think these people were from Europe, maybe England. Again, correct me if I'm wrong. I can only imagine what the "conservative" crowd called these people for wanting to leave their homeland. And what a sacrifice it must have been to leave one's homeland and boat (not fly) across the Atlantic to eventually start a GREAT NEW NATION and a new way of life for themselves. FUCK CANADA!!!!!! When did anyone in this last blog even hint of going there!?! Funny that a Bush lover would tell another how great this nation is when they've been seeing it thru a blindfold for the past 4-5 years. Don't get me wrong, Canada is beautiful and doesn't have too many hurricanes. They also don't have some numbnuts leader to absolutely muff the clean up for one either. They also have cheap drugs(cheaper thatn in the USA) - my grandmother tells me so. And if there was a chance to make large amounts of cash quickly, I'm sure ole Dick Cheney would have his Halliburton boys up there in an instant. Why is it that every Bush lover thinks the liberals should go elsewhere? Or that they hate this country? Maybe the conservatives should go back across the pond?! 1900 body bags so far....and for what?? Remember when W supposedly served in the armed forces?? He sure was safe from the war back then.......

Can anyone tell me W's position on Roe v Wade?.................... He doesn't care how you get out of New Orleans.

Rita will be a great test for ole W. We saw how long it took W to cut short his vacation and finally decide to help the poor minorities of the southern coast states. Now this bitch of a storm is headed right for Crawford, Texas. I'm betting W. starts the Iraq pullout to get the Texas Nat'l Guard there a week beforehand. Time will tell. At least this time he and pops can go fishing right out the back door. Now that's a vacation!!!!!!

Sorry Tribe fans. You can thank the Akron Beacon Journal for just putting a jinx on the Indians. In an article showing the Tribe winning 2 out of 3 over the white sox, the article is titled "Mission Accomplished"......and you know where I'm going with that?!?! Good day.

While I pull no props for the ABJ, it's the SI cover I fear most. When they post the Tribe and call them the dark horse, then we'll know it's over. The ABJ is the local rag; they have no choice but to talk up the home boys. And good on 'em for doing so... just as long as the SI guys don't pick up their story!

....in addition to what you said, did you know that Katrina was the first hurricane to ever hit the United States? Good thing we had such a hero in office to handle such a disaster.
